MAT LITTLETON
Coach Littleton is in his sixth year as the head cross country and track and field coach at Virginia Wesleyan College.
During his time, he has taken the men’s cross country program from just three runners on the roster to a top five NCAA Division III
team in the South Region (12 states) and started the track and field program at VWC, now also in its sixth year. He was named the
2008 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men’s Coach of the Year. In his six years at the helm, his men’s cross country runners
have earned 14 All-ODAC individual honors and six All-South Region awards. He has also coached two runners to ODAC Freshman of the Year honors. In Track and Field, he coached
the men's Distance Medley Relay to the 2010 ODAC Indoor Track and Field Championship, setting the all-time ODAC record in the process. He coached nine All-ODAC track and fileld athletes,
including Sean Whitson, the indoor ODAC Champion at 5,000m and a croos country national qualifier last fall.
Littleton graduated from North Central College (IL) in 2001 where he ran for Al Carius, Sports Illustrated’s choice as the NCAA Div. III Cross Country
Coach of the Century in 1999. Carius is in his 44th year as the coach at NCC and has led the Cardinals to 13 national championships in cross country,
four in outdoor track and field and one in indoor track and field.
Littleton was a member of the 1999 NCAA Division III National Championship cross country team and the 2000 NCAA Division III National Championship
track and field team.
Since college, he has completed five marathons (including Boston twice). He now runs non-competitively for fun and fitness.
KRISTA LITTLETON
Coach Littleton is the women’s cross country and track and field coach at
Virginia Wesleyan College. She is also in her sixth year with the program. During her time at VWC, her athletes have accumulated four
All-ODAC cross country honors, five All-ODAC track and field honors and two All-South Region Cross Country awards. She also coached
women to the 2008 ODAC cross country Freshman of the Year and the 2009 ODAC Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year awards.
This past fall, her women’s track and field team had the highest GPA of all 19 athletic programs at VWC.
Engerman is a 2002 graduate of North Central College with a degree in Psychology. She is a USATF Level 1 certified coach.
She runs consistently herself and has run three half-marathons and other road races
